Collaborates and partners with Creative Director on the management of Women's Design team with a focus on workflow, communication, team development and project management. Leads and directly manages multi-disciplinary studio team with in the category that includes including Design Management, Color & Concept, Print Design, Archive, and Design Technology.KEY FUNCTIONS:* Works closely with Creative Director and Men's Design team to develop unique ideas that are reflective of the seasonal concept and brand vision.* Responsible for leading the overall seasonal women's designs and development, research and presentation of ideas to continually fuel the creative process while supporting commercial concept needs; leads the creation and communication of the seasonal designs, color palette, prints and patterns & flow within the Women's Category and ensuring alignment with the Men's team and overall design direction.* Lead the design and development of all women's categories including bags, luggage, leather goods, accessories, and addition categories that are related to the women's category.* The function plays a critical role at every milestone, ensuring the design intent is executed to the highest standards and that workload is allocated appropriately across the women's Design teams.* Ensures that the proper resources can support projects and priorities; acts as a key ambassador for Women's Design.* Facilitates meetings with designers to engage the teams in idea generation and inspire creative collaboration in order to facilitate transparency and a unified vision across categories.QUALIFICATIONS:* 15+ years of product design/development experience with a strong record of people management.* Extensive experience in Women's accessory, bag, product or apparel design and development.* Proven experience managing large cross-category and cross-functional Design teams.* Possess an elevated sense of style and an innate love of fashion and design. Understand how to translate trends through the lens of the customer and brand filter.* A great eye for color and an understanding of the possibilities of fabric and construction. Ability to look for new and innovative ways to use color, fabric, and details in design.* Strong presentation and influencing skill and the ability to create and make presentations in a variety of settings and styles.* Excellent leadership and managerial skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate a vision and inspire and motivate others to action.* Train, motivate and evaluate entire staff, responsible for employee development and retention.* The successful candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task and lead a team. Orientation to detail is essential.* In-depth knowledge of product design techniques and processes* Expert fabric and construction knowledge through understanding of techniques and vendors.* Strong business management skills which include product costing and knowledge of financials as it applies to business strategies.* Frequent travel is requiredTUMI encourages individual growth in pursuit of achieving corporate goals.
