The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for programming, setting up and operating a 5-axis CNC machine
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining conventional mill and lathe
  • Proficient at all types of drilling, tapping and milling
  • Complete machining operations from blueprints, drawings and/or verbal instructions
  • Knowledge of complex, tight tolerance parts, and various materials
  • Knowledge of what tooling is needed and what needs to be ordered
  • Ability to work with different softwares such as NX, Mastercam, Esprit and Hypermill
  • Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience programming, setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines
  • 5 years experience running and maintaining conventional mill/lathe
  • Minimum 10 years machining experience
  • Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and run 5-axis mill-turns
  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and run conventional machines
  • Ability to read and work off of a blueprint
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
