EMALS and AAGAdvanced Naval Control Systems Dolphin and EagleEyeCommunications and Surveillance SeaScout, SabreTooth, C-TALONMaritime Robotics As a Manufacturing Engineering Aide 3, you will aid with and act to support the Manufacturing Engineering team in its execution and transition of new products to manufacturing, sustainment activities, and key process improvement initiatives. You may aid in the design of work cell layouts, provide insight and guidance on the need for and requirements of equipment and test fixtures as well as production processes to improve throughput and reduce cycle times. You may assist in or conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis with direct engineering guidance while also supporting the manufacture of products to meet quality standards, target delivery dates, and customer commitments. Your application to the Manufacturing Engineering Aide 3 position will cover a broad range of support activities across QNA s expansive range of products: Unmanned Robots and Vehicles Soldier and Vehicle Protection Maritime Systems Meteorological Sensors Utility Monitoring Sensors See Responsibilities: Directly supports Manufacturing Engineers to integrate product and process development. Assists and contributes to the build and troubleshooting of initial pre-production products in support of developing manufacturing processes and generating build documents. Act as a lead assembly technician responsible for the electro-mechanical assembly, configuration, functional verification, and documentation for non-engineering low-volume products not intended to TTP. Trains operations assembly staff when product is ready to transfer to production. Responsible for working with MRO technicians to train and document new maintenance processes when newly encountered issues arise. Responsible for documenting troubleshoot and repair aids for future use by MRO staff. With direct oversight from Manufacturing Engineering, may develop methods, processes, and work instructions to support both transition of new products to a production environment and or sustainment activities. Required Qualifications: Associates Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical preferred) plus 8-12 years working experience as an Engineering Technician/Aid, or the combined equivalent experience in engineering coursework and a position as a Technician providing support to Manufacturing Engineering functions. A willingness/desire to learn, develop, and further pursue a degree in an engineering discipline. Ability to self-manage with moderate oversight, demonstrate discipline, and commit to working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment to tight deadlines. A desire to take on new challenges. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Proven ability practically and logically to solve problems. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Moderate experience editing work instructions for operator/technician use. Proven organization and time-management skills coupled with effective and positive communication skills required. Hands-on experience expected. A willingness and ability to travel to or report for day trips to Waltham, MA, or other various QNA locations when a new product is undergoing a transitioning to manufacturing (<5%). Desired Qualifications: Experience working with products or processes containing software and firmware configurations. Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 environment. Experience troubleshooting complex systems or equipment. Understanding of analytical troubleshooting methodologies. Experience in the field of robotics or other highly technically integrated systems/products. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
