We are adding to our diverse team of experts and are looking to hire those who are committed to building a culture that enables the creation of innovative solutions for our business units and clients.

The Company
As a member of Munich Re's US operations, we offer the financial strength and stability that comes with being part of the world's preeminent insurance and reinsurance brand. Our risk experts work together to assemble the right mix of products and services to help our clients stay competitive ? from traditional reinsurance coverages, to niche, specialty financially-driven reinsurance and insurance products.

Within Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. (MRAm), the Reinsurance Division (RD) addresses the key challenges of the future ? that is what we have been doing in the US property/casualty reinsurance market since 1917. As a leading reinsurer, we deal with the issues that affect business and society and work to devise risk management and risk transfer solutions that render tomorrow?s world insurable. Our recipe for success: we anticipate risks early on and deliver solutions tailored to your needs, creating opportunities to achieve sustained profitable growth.

In the Capital Partners Department, the focus is on complex and tailor-made solutions that serve a distinct corporate finance motivation that is often event-driven. Typical solutions include retroactive and structured prospective reinsurance treaties across all property and casualty lines of business, as well as parametric trigger structures. Capital Partners Americas is the dedicated unit within MRAm tasked with serving our clients in North and Latin America and the Caribbean with these bespoke solutions.

The Opportunity
Capital Partners Americas is an integral part of the global Capital Partners organization which has offices in Munich, Zurich, Beijing, Seoul and Princeton/New York. The Head of Capital Partners Americas, reports to the CEO of MRAm?s Reinsurance Division and serves as a member of the RD Executive Leadership Team. The role also serves as a member of the global Capital Partners Executive Management team and has a dotted reporting line to the Global Head of Capital Partners in Munich.

Your Role

  • As a member of the RD Executive Leadership team and the global Capital Partners executive management team, lead and motivate a team of highly specialized originators, analysts, structurers and underwriters dedicated to providing our clients with structured and non-traditional risk transfer solutions.
  • Responsible for the profitable growth of the Capital Partners Americas book of business and overall performance against financial targets. In partnership with the global Capital Partners team, develop the strategy and operating model for the Americas (mission, vision, objectives, target segments/niches, distribution, strategic growth plans, etc.)
  • Represent Capital Partners as an executive leader locally within the Client Management and Underwriting community as well as in the global Capital Partners operation.
  • Drive the vision of the overarching Capital Partners strategy, providing critical and proactive partnership to each relevant Business Unit in the Americas with an unbiased and holistic view of the company?s strategy.
  • Actively contribute to the origination of new opportunities, both on a direct basis and through dedicated broker or other distribution channels. Explore new solutions and client segments/niches, anticipating new trends and developments.
  • Provide tactical guidance and technical expertise to ongoing projects and deal opportunities
  • Drive deal and project-related decision making and drive internal approval processes, e.g. presentations to relevant central functions and underwriting committees.
  • Support and contribute to cross-functional strategy projects and represent MRAm RD and Capital Partners as a reliable partner to our clients and business partners.
  • Promote the unit as a constant innovator and market leader in industry conferences, client meetings and overarching activities.
  • Drive innovation and serve as a key cultural driver and role model.
