YOUR ROLE

The Print Producer manages the production of printed materials associated with their account assignments. Ensures that all projects (magazine, OOH, printing, retouching, released files) within their domain are on-time, on-budget, profitable, and meet client expectations. Additionally, that all campaigns within their domain adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

At Craft, the Print Producer is tasked with both print production and project management within this dual role. They need to be able to adapt to new technologies and workflows that we have and are implementing.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNT GOVERNANCE

Oversee client projects and establish weekly, monthly & quarterly forecasts

Communication of project status & financials to manage internal & external expectations

Make recommendations to account and creative teams for high impact print and out-of-home options that extend the reach of print through sound, dimension, and interaction.

Build relationships with agency clients to gain insight into forecasts, opportunities for improvement and going upstream forvisibility

Work across multiple client portfolios as needed

ONBOARDING / TRAINING

Proactively master all studio processes

ISO / QMS

Execute NCF investigations as necessary

Complete all ISO-required training within first 21 days of employment

FINANCIALS / SOWs

Develop clear scopes of work and level of efforts for each new project or campaign

Preparation of estimates within our ManagePlus (WIP) system, balance and manage scope, time, cost, process, risk and quality

Proactively manage project financials and develop estimates for scope creep to be approved prior to any additional work being executed

Triple bids all printed work with outside vendors. Provides vendors with a list of specs, requirements, due dates and any specialneeds. Reviews bids with creative and account, makes recommendation of selected vendor with rationale as to why selected, gains approval to proceed with a Vantage system Purchase Order to the chosen vendor.

Ensure all time is billed on jobs accurately and ManagePlus projects are closed within 3 business days of project delivery

Monitor production costs throughout the course of each job and work with retouching to be sure time is managed efficiently.

Pull ZPAR reports to monitor if jobs/estimates need to be revised.

Billing, responsible for maintaining and approving estimates on the system in a timely manner. Co-approve monthly draft billing with Account team

WORKFLOW / PRODUCTION / QA

Review work requests for production feasibility and determine technical specifications such as bleed/trim/safety sizes

Create production schedules and secure resources (onshore & offshore) through assignments listed in the project plans in OrganizePlus. Work to ensure rounds of review stay within scope, and timelines are hit by both Craft & the client

Ensure all client deliverables are accurate per the QA checklist & changes requested

Manage and coordinate all internal retouching for agency as well as outside partners as needed per client assignments.

Advise creative team on stock selection, manufacturing, and finishing options during the planning of client sales materials or internal corporate communications pieces.

Upon file release, ensure the vendor/publisher received the files via written communication. Troubleshoot and work to resolve any issues that arise with vendors and publications regarding file setup, resolution or density

Supervise press checks where needed.

Select qualified Craft vendors to participate in the bidding process based on knowledge of equipment and capabilities. Analyze bids and negotiate as needed.

Provide client procurement agents with detailed manufacturing and finishing specifications for bidding out print projects to their vendors.

Monitor quality of ad reproduction in magazines, out-of-home, and newspapers based on industry standards and address issues with pubs/media as needed.

Provide input into post mortem meetings & actively participate/optimize workflow as needed

Examine image resolution and characteristics for feasibility of use in print and large format printing. Advise against use or when modifications are necessary.

Provide direction where needed to the Studio on file preparation guidelines for ads, out-of-home, and collateral.

Collaborate with Art Directors and internal or external retouching teams on color correcting and retouching of images for CMYK, RGB, and grayscale space. Use knowledge of file resolution, densities and substrates to guide the process.

Monitor production schedules to be sure targeted release date is reached across all client workstreams. Discuss adding resources with managers to accomplish timing objectives when needed.

Review mechanicals for accuracy before routing through ApprovePlus to Proofreading followed by AE, AD & CW. Based on their final input action the required revisions to studio. Repeat as needed to final approval

Escalate project/account issues to Executive Producer and/or Director of Production as soon as they arise and provide solutions to mitigate all issues

Actively manage production teams (onshore & offshore) to mitigate any issues including, but not limited to: timeline delays, resourcing conflicts, billing issues, incorrect specs, unclear direction from client

Maintain client spec sheets. Oversee the media grid per client assignment, confirming specs, material due dates and number of units for the print buys with media, publishers & vendors for each project

Submit work requests to the studio with complete information & clear direction via the Studio Workflow

Ensure all client deliverables are accurate prior to releasing from Studio to client and vendor

Wholly own projects from specs, to production, to delivery to ensure 100% complete & accurate delivery

Review of all materials prior to going into studio AQR, as well as checking all materials coming out of studio prior to releasing to agency/client

Ensure data analytic points are captured in a timely basis and kept current at all times

TOOLS

Integration of ApprovePlus (ProofHQ) into your workflow of ad production to streamline the process by adding efficiencies.

Implementation and working knowledge of the Adstream workflow from ad inception through archiving of final assets within our Assets Plus (Adbank DAM) system.

Use working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and its file formats to deliver final files.

Understand and use knowledge of industry proofing profiles and standards for SWOP, Gracol, and Newsprint.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Must have 3-6 years experience

Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent

Computer-literate with knowledge of desktop applications, file formats and file specifications

Marketing agency and/or experience working in a marketing organization

Must have strong oral and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to summarize and communicate at a high level

Excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills; thrives in high-volume, deadline-driven environment
