The Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift provides coverage for IFF s Global R&D Facility. This position will overlap with the day shift and will focus on completing maintenance and Facilities tasks that cannot be completed when the building is fully occupied. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Standard hours are 2:00 pm 10:30 pm Monday to Friday with overtime periodically required.
As the Maintenance Mechanic you should have a broad knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and general facility repairs and possess a minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing or laboratory/education environment. Candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react to issues and emergencies. You should also be comfortable inspecting the work of the contractors and directing any improvements in services.
You will spend your time
As the Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift you will be responsible in performing preventative and scheduled maintenance throughout facility, focusing on those tasks that are best performed when the building is not fully occupied. You will perform room set-ups in preparation for the following day s events. You will also be the eyes and ears of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Facility Manager regarding off-shift contractor operations to ensure they meet IFF standards and expectations.
Position Description: Conduct scheduled facility preventative Maintenance tasks, unscheduled and scheduled repairs, and project support Examine and evaluate mechanical/electrical equipment and systems to detect malfunctions and execute repairs for the same Process documentation, including work order completion and parts identification for reordering Identify replacement parts and communicate needs to Maintenance Supervisor Perform post-repair tests and documents results Perform routine boiler inspections Know how to react to emergency situations and when to contact the Maintenance Supervisor Conduct nightly inspections of janitorial contractor and direct improvements when necessary Comply with all company regulations governing Safety and Environmental Compliance Participate in recurring training, safety meetings
Required Skills Must be available from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday Minimum five years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in an R&D or educational facility or chemical/food/pharmaceutical plant Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and handle unexpected situations.
Required Experience Experience with Maintenance and Repair duties including the adjustment and alignment of all typesof pumps, fluid machinery, valves, pneumatic systems, steam systems, solid material processing and handling equipment, filling and packaging machinery. Experience with basic welding, shop machinery, and portable power tools. Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operation NJ Boiler Operator s License (Low Pressure), OSHA 10 and/or formal emergency response training is a plus* The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
