RME Controls Technician, 2nd Shift

Job Summary

To provide maintenance expertise for quick response to MHE and Building system issues to maximize Uptime. To follow through on work assignments and provide customer focus for Operations teams and our 'End User' customer.

Primary Job Duties

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance Support
  • Installing, troubleshooting and making repairs for material handling equipment, including conveyors, sorters, Automatic Storage & Retrieval systems, and powered industrial vehicles.
  • Includes aspects such as, belt tracking, belt replacements and lacing, VFD adjustments, changing motors and drives, gear reducers, brakes, encoders, etc.
  • Expertise and ability to work with processing equipment, such as carton erectors, carton taping machines, print & apply label applicators, in-motion weigh scales, and automated poly bag packing machines.
  • Work with single phase and 3 phase electrical systems: 24V, 110V, and 480V.
  • Installing, replacing, troubleshooting, and making repairs to photo eyes, jam beacons, encoders, VFDs, scanners, etc.
  • Installations, troubleshooting, and repairs involving compressed air piping systems and air compressor units.
    Preventive Maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance work on material handling and storage equipment and recording of maintenance work into PM CMMS systems (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
      Powered Industrial Trucks
      • Expertise and ability to operate and work on forklifts (Reach trucks, Order Pickers, Pallet Riders, Turret Trucks, etc.) and maintenance type related vehicles (scissor lifts, boom lifts, sweeper/scrubber units, etc.)
        Job Requirements

        Minimum Education
        • High School diploma or equivalent. Technical/vocational education preferred
          Minimum Experience
          • 2 years maintenance activities/mechanic/electrical experience
            Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
            • Can demonstrate knowledge in functional dept.
            • Good oral and written communication skills
            • Good problem solving skills
            • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures and operating instructions, design drawings.
            • Ability to work safely around mechanical equipment
            • Training with Lockout/tag-out requirements.
            • Working knowledge of PLC's, sensors, encoders
              Preferred additional skills and abilities and experience
              • Metal fabrication, welding, carpentry experience.
              • Experience with reading electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics for troubleshooting controls issues, and access to control cabinets and motor starters, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC s).
              • Working knowledge of PLC's, sensors, encoders
              • 2 years experience working in maintenance operations within a distribution center operation.
              • Experience with Dematic Multi-shuttle and MHE systems; Eurosort Bombay sorters.
