Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Position is responsible for all Manufacturing Engineering activities for assigned processes.

Plans and optimizes layout of manufacturing process and equipment for manufacturing.

Conducts studies in production to increase productivity and maximize work flow.

Develops and sustains manufacturing processes using statistical methods to assure adequate process capability.

Supports generation of PFMEA, control plans and process documentation.

Provides manufacturing process information, labor estimates, and tooling estimates to support generation of new pricing proposals.

Interacts with integrated production team (design, manufacturing, quality and program management) to optimize manufacturability of new designs within project budgets.

Performs new equipment and process start ups and equipment buyoffs.

Identifies, plans, and implements cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities for assigned equipment and processes.

Provides technical support and trouble shooting for both in house and vendor processes.

Required Skills

Minimum of 5 years? experience in a composite process/manufacturing engineering role including experience with assembly, molding, and manual and automated painting processes

Proficient in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering principles and equipment operation principles (Pneumatics and Hydraulics)

Hands on experience in debugging and repairing equipment and tooling problems

Proficient in Advanced quality planning and control tools and principles (PFMEA, SPC, DOE, DFM/DFA, etc.)

Experience in time studies, line balancing, labor estimation, and lean production principles

Proficient in Mechanical and composite fabrication/assembly processes including fixture and tool design

Proficient in process design, mistake-proofing, and ergonomics

Moderate proficiency in quality assurance systems in aerospace and defense industry and standards ISO9000

Proficient in manufacturing planning (creation of BOMs and routings) and detailed process work instruction documentation

Proficient in Personal computer tools (Microsoft office, MRP systems, AutoCAD)

Proficient in engineering drawing interpretation and tolerancing (GDT)

Experienced in Root Cause Analysis and problem solving

Must have good general verbal and written communication skills

Must be PRO-ACTIVE in resolving issues, potential problems, generating resolutions, etc.

Must be able to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet project deadlines for assigned task

Position is temporary/contract, possibility for future direct employment.
