Manufacturing Engineer (Fairlawn, Ohio)
Our client, in Commercial Vehicle component manufacturing, is currently hiring a Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer will support Product Development and Quality reviewing and summarizing all test data. They will also provide technical support to analyze and develop manufacturing control systems, including design of tooling, part touching details, and completing capability studies. This position is a Contract without an end date. Duties and responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer will include:
Digitize paper test documents. Measure and inspect test samples as needed.
Clean up and organize engineering history - files and data
Tool Design, Machine Design, Inspection and Gage Design
Documentation and reporting, using 6 Sigma techniques to analyze data
Studies and pertinent data on server - move to test log and summarize
Warranty data - review and organize for product knowledge understanding
Kingpin design knowledge - capture from in house expert. Create engineering standards
Convert 2D prints to 3D models and prints - Kingpins to start (optional)
Create engineering specifications where needed (e.g. purchased components)
Acquire prints from purchase component suppliers to shore up design knowledge gaps
Purchased parts - clean up prints with minimal information
PFMEA - Move to correct format and update / correct
DFMEA - Other products
COST IMPROVEMENT: Participate in design of fixtures and tools with the manufacturing group to simplify and enhance installation and production. Provide improvements to increase productivity using the designed fixtures and tools.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: Provide fixtures and tools processes that meet standards in quality, ergonomics, and safety along with sustaining required production rates; Work with the manufacturing group in the development of tools, fixtures, and accessories to support existing and new product and process design. Qualifications:
Computer oriented (CAD, Network/software, PC applications).
Process control and quality assurance, and process capability
Knowledge of assembly fixtures
Knowledge of production methods
Quality Control (capability studies, Failure, Defect Analysis, FMEA)
Machining methods knowledge
Machine Design, Drafting
GD&T, ANSI, ASTM, or AWS/ ISO knowledge
