Plan, negotiate and procure raw materials including feedstock (such as FCCS, EBO’s, creosote oil, other oils, and plastic resins), natural gas, fuel oil, and electricity – Purchasing /Procurement.
Be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the feedstock and energy functions.
Identify and develop company’s value proposition to suppliers and customers.
Develop and implement corporate policies and procedures related to the above activities.
Institute and manage feedstock and energy management programs (including environmental, health, and safety considerations) in coordination with operating plants and consistent with company’s business objectives
Formulate and implement business strategy to tackle market and industry challenge and completely in charge of emergent supply situation.
Diversify supplies of feedstock and mitigate supply disruption risk with sustainable business plan.
Actively contribute to the development and execution of company’s Annual Operating Plan (“AOP”) and Strategic Business Plan (“SBP”) goals for growth and profitability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain market and competitive information to ensure company is positioned to compete effectively in the industry.
Nurture contacts within industry and with suppliers, terminal operators, transportation (rail and truck operators) and traders to maintain current knowledge of industry trends, supply availability and transportation issues.
Develop and maintain relevant benchmarks and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and report on daily, weekly, monthly basis, as appropriate.
Commit to understanding, preparing and achieving the company’s AOP and SBP goals.
Compile and maintain specifications for all feedstock types that are applicable to production.
Seek, evaluate, approve and procure alternative feedstock to complement supplies from oil refineries.
Negotiate annual feedstock agreements to secure most competitive prices and terms globally (based on total value package, not strictly on price).
Coordinate with each operating plant’s production schedule and maintain adequate inventories for quality and supply stability.
Coordinate Laboratory evaluation and approval of alternative feedstock optimizing sulfur content by identifying appropriate blends.
Optimize raw materials logistics to ensure lowest cost supply chain by developing logistics plan for feedstock including delivery, storage, and blending to provide optimum plant productivity.
Develop domestic and global feedstock trading capability to add profitable opportunities for the company.
Purchase electricity and natural gas to match each operating plant’s production requirements while monitoring relevant market trends for best timing and pricing.
Establish commodity hedging procedures and processes with Finance Department to minimize feedstock and natural gas risks caused by price volatility.
Implement automated tracking process for all monitor feedstock railcars and trucks to ensure on-time arrival at the operating plants.
Prepare 3-month forward rolling forecast for feedstock and natural gas volume and prices.
Prepare annual feedstock, natural gas and electricity budget for the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
Keep senior management informed of feedstock and natural gas activities through weekly staff meetings and written weekly activity reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in chemistry, business economics, Finance, or technical discipline preferred.
3-5 years of relevant work experience, including 3 years of demonstrated success in a similarly sized manufacturing company.
Knowledgeable of and experienced in commodity hedging instruments, techniques and strategies.
Demonstrated skills in analytics and negotiations.
Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AX.) a must.
Effective communicator, both oral and in writing.
